Most bolts, screws and studs made today have rolled, not cut, threads. Rolling cold-forms the thread, following the grain of the material, which gives a stronger, smoother thread at production speeds.
Fastener makers also knurl special parts: knurled nuts, thumb screws, press-in studs and wheel studs. Malkar and Rapid supply both processes.
