Pumps, Valves & Flow Control · Application
Rising-stem gate valves
A trapezoidal stem thread and nut raise and lower the gate and hold it against line pressure.
- What was needed
- Single Start Leadscrew, Flange Lead Nut
- Requirements
- High axial load capacity
- Holds position against line pressure
- Industry
- Pumps, Valves & Flow Control
- Result
- A robust stem drive that holds the gate at any position.
Problem
Gate and globe valves move the gate or plug by turning a threaded stem. The thread must carry high axial loads and hold position against line pressure.
Solution
A trapezoidal (single start) stem thread with a matching nut converts handwheel rotation into stem travel and is self-holding at any position.
Benefits
Why it works
High axial load capacity
Robust trapezoidal thread form.
Holds position
No creep under line pressure.
