Decorative and grip knurling on curved surfaces
Radius knurling wheels follow convex and concave contours on torches, pens, fitness equipment and consumer products.
- What was needed
- Concave Radius Knurling Wheel, Convex Radius Knurling Wheel, Lathe Single Form Knurling Tool Holder
- Requirements
- Even pattern across a curved surface
- Premium appearance
- Grip on rounded parts
- Result
- A full, even knurl across the whole contour.
Problem
Torches, pens, fitness grips and many consumer products have rounded or contoured surfaces. A straight knurling wheel only touches the high point, so the pattern fades out at the edges.
Solution
Radius knurling wheels have a convex or concave rim that matches the part's curve, so the pattern is formed evenly across the whole contour.
- Choose a concave wheel for convex surfaces (e.g. a rounded grip) and a convex wheel for concave surfaces.
- Cut-type patterns give the sharpest decorative finish on aluminium and brass.
Benefits
Why it works
