Materials
Hardened chromium steel and stainless steel.
Gear grinding is the finishing process after heat treatment. Hardening distorts a cut gear slightly; grinding removes that stock from the tooth flanks and brings the gear to its specified quality. Because the grinding wheel holds its form, the profile stays consistent from the first gear of a batch to the last.
We grind spur and helical gears, including demanding precision jobs: form grinding, precision and fine grinding, and regrinding. For mass production, multi-ribbed grinding gives the lowest cost per part. Ground gears are checked on CNC lead and profile testers.
